I purchased a copy of this book shortly after it came out, but it rapidly became buried under all the other eBooks I downloaded to my brand new eReader. Recently when I was scrolling through all my acquisitions, I couldn't even remember why it was there, so I opened it and began to read.

From almost the very first page, I remembered. An historical mystery set in Arizona months after it came a state and featuring real-life figures Charlie Siringo and Wyatt Earp? I was hooked! The mystery is a good I purchased a copy of this book shortly after it came out, but it rapidly became buried under all the other eBooks I downloaded to my brand new eReader.

The mystery is a good one and certainly kept me guessing. I also enjoyed the journey through Arizona at the turn of the twentieth century-- especially through places like Harqua Hala, which has long been a ghost town. The author had me slapping off clouds of dust and hearing the jingle of spurs while I tried to figure out what was going on. Unfortunately, a couple of things let down the quality of the writing. One was the fact that there were a few too many historical figures.

Sure these folks may all have known each other, and may even have been in roughly the same place at the same time, but it would have freed up the story to have a bit more fiction and a little less history. The other thing that let down the story quite a bit was the lack of proofreading and poor-quality formatting. He later worked as. Willie was the son of sheep rancher Kels Nickell, who had been involved in a range feud with neighbor and cattle rancher Jim Miller. On the day before his 43rd birthday, Horn was executed by hanging in Cheyenne, Wyoming. While in jail he wrote his autobiography, Life of Tom Horn: Government Scout and Interpreter,[3] which was published posthumously in Numerous editions have been published in the late 20th century.

Horn has since become a larger-than-life figure of western folklore, and debate continues as to whether he was actually guilty of Nickell's murder. The books were illustrated by leading artists, such as N. Wyeth for Whispering Smith. Although he wrote prolifically about railroads, his actual career was that of a bank president in McCook, Nebraska, and did not himself work for a railroad. View All Critic Reviews Dec 06, Season 1 follows the Borden sisters in the wake of Lizzie's acquittal for the murder of their parents as they move to a new house and deal with a private investigator who's intent on bringing Lizzie to justice. However, the writing goes downhill extremely fast.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At first it's kind of clever and exciting with Lizzie tying up loose ends and taking out her enemies, but then it starts to get ridiculous with her killing off people an episode without anyone catching or suspecting her. And this makes it difficult to develop recurring characters and continuing storylines. Still, the costumes and sets are especially well-done, giving an authentic feel for the time-period. Also the soundtrack brings a lot of energy to the series and heightens the action and suspense.

Yet while the show has a lot of things going for it, the bad writing doomed The Lizzie Borden Chronicles to a short lived 8-episode season. Dann M Super Reviewer. Feb 01, Loved Christina Ricci in this series! So upsetting they didnt come back with a second season as season 1 leaves fans expecting to be filled in on all the open ended plots simultaneously happening. Very disappointed in lifetime. They finally had some good tv that satisfied a larger audience Clearly they need to hire me lol Signed, Althea-Mar?

As a true fan of the Walking Dead and Dexter, this had great potential. Bob F. May 29, I am not sure why it is scoring so low. Yeah, sure, she murders all the time and it is pretty silly, but it is really fun and I always wanted to see the next episode! Lizzie is inventive and the period drama is a plus. Ricci is one cool customer. Do not get attached to any characters! May 18, Really enjoyed it. Shame they wont make a season 2. Jessie O. May 05, It's a fun, silly watch. Overly gratuitous in it's violence, with very little attempt at making Lizzie seem anything more than a pantomime villain, but for a brainless binge watch it's worth a look.
